Is the video consultation really free?
Yes. The video consultation is with Dr Ouali himself, it is free, and there is no obligation. If you would rather be seen in person before you decide, a face-to-face appointment can be arranged, and that one is charged separately.
Can I get rhinophyma treatment on the NHS?
Rhinophyma treatment is not currently funded by the NHS, and choosing a trusted and experienced private clinic is the best option in achieving your desired results.
Is rhinophyma caused by alcohol?
No. It was historically linked to heavy drinking, but alcohol is not a direct cause. It may make rosacea worse in some people.
Is the surgery painful?
It is done under local anaesthetic, with or without sedation, so you will not feel pain during surgery. Discomfort afterwards is usually mild and managed with pain relief.
Are the results permanent?
Surgery gives long-lasting results, but rhinophyma is progressive, so it can come back, especially if the underlying rosacea is not managed.
Can rhinophyma affect breathing?
In severe cases the extra tissue can block the nasal airways. Surgery can help open them and improve airflow.
What should I avoid while healing?
Sleep with your head raised for a few nights and keep pressure off your nose, including tight glasses, until you are told otherwise. Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and sun for at least two weeks, wear high-SPF sunscreen on the area, and avoid smoking.
How do I pay if I go ahead?
You pay a 50% deposit to hold your date, or the full amount if you would rather settle it in one go. There is no in-house finance.
